Samsun expands light rail fleet with new domestic tramways

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure are expanding the city's Light Rail System fleet. Following a presidential decision, the Ministry is overseeing the delivery of 12 new tramways to the city.

The third new tramway has arrived in Samsun and has been moved to the SAMULAŞ A.Ş. depot in the Tekkeköy district for assembly and testing. These new vehicles feature a 74 percent domestic production rate, which officials note is significant for sustainability and cost reduction.

Each tramway is 42 meters long, 2.65 meters wide, and has a passenger capacity of 402. Designed in red and white colors, the vehicles are intended to strengthen the city's public transport infrastructure. Once all 12 units are delivered, the total number of tramways in service on the 35.5-kilometer line will increase from 29 to 41.
