Samsun expands tramway fleet with arrival of fourth new vehicle
The fourth of 12 new tramway vehicles has arrived in Samsun as part of an expansion project to increase the city's public transportation capacity. The 42-meter-long vehicle, which features a 74 percent domestic production rate, was transported by road in two sections and has been placed on the tracks at the SAMULAŞ depot in the Tekkeköy district.
Once assembly and technical testing are complete, the new tram, which has a capacity of 402 passengers, will enter service. This procurement program is being managed by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure following a presidential decision.
Upon the delivery of all 12 planned vehicles, the total number of trams in Samsun's Light Rail System will increase from 29 to 41. This expansion aims to improve service quality and capacity, particularly during peak hours.
