Samsun gas leak occurs during tram line drilling

A gas leak occurred in the Canik district of Samsun during soil survey drilling for the Samsun City Hospital Tram Line. Following the leak, emergency teams including AFAD, the fire department, and police were dispatched to the scene to secure the area.

During the response, a representative from the contractor company reportedly attempted to obstruct journalists from filming the site. The individual allegedly stood in front of cameras and threatened to contact the governor to prevent coverage. Police eventually intervened, allowing journalists to continue filming from behind the security perimeter.

AFAD conducted multiple measurements of the gas flammability. Initial readings showed a flammability value of 99, which subsequently dropped to 21.5 in follow-up measurements. Authorities plan to lift security measures if further testing results remain within safe limits.
