Samsun gas station sealed and ordered for demolition due to landslide risks

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality has sealed a gas station operated by TP İstasyon İşletmeleri in the Atakum district and issued a demolition order. The facility, located on the intersection of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Boulevard and Alaçam Street, faces significant safety risks due to landslides and ground shifts.

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Atila Tekcan raised concerns during a Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Council meeting, noting that a 9 meter high retaining wall at the site has developed cracks measuring 15 to 20 centimeters. Tekcan argued that the site was unsuitable for a fuel station and criticized the previous zoning and sale processes, claiming the area is a landslide zone.

The station had been in operation for five years following the sale of the land by the municipality. Despite previous warnings regarding the geological instability of the area, the facility remained active until the recent decision to close it for public safety.
