Samsun Hazelnut Harvest Forecast for 2026 Completed
The Samsun Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry finalized the 2026 hazelnut (fındık) harvest forecast after field surveys across the province. A commission chaired by Provincial Director Kemal Yılmaz, with participation from Ondokuz Mayıs University’s Faculty of Agriculture, the National Hazelnut Council, the Regional Crop Office, the Samsun Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Samsun Stock Exchange, the Black Sea Exporters Association, and other local stakeholders, assessed 13 districts covering 1,250,729 decares.
The commission’s report estimates roughly 50,000 hazelnut growers in the province and highlights the crop’s strategic importance for the regional and national economy. Yılmaz stated, "Hazelnut is a vital product for our province and the Black Sea region; we have conducted the harvest study with great diligence and wish a bountiful, profitable season for all producers and strong export revenues for Turkey." The forecast has been submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
The assessment underscores the emphasis on transparent and accurate yield predictions to support growers, inform market expectations, and sustain Turkey’s position as a leading hazelnut exporter.
