Samsun hospital introduces robotic surgery for urological procedures
VM Medical Park Samsun Hospital in Samsun, Turkey, has introduced robotic surgery technology for urological procedures. The system is designed to treat prostate, bladder, and kidney diseases, as well as perform various reconstructive surgeries.
Medical professionals, including urology specialists Doç. Dr. Mehmet Çetinkaya and Prof. Dr. Kadir Önem, stated that the technology provides surgeons with higher precision and maneuverability through a system consisting of a surgical console, robotic arms, and imaging. The hospital aims to use this technology to improve patient comfort, accelerate recovery times, and allow for faster discharge from the hospital.
The first successful procedure involved a male patient with a suspicious mass in his kidney. According to Dr. Çetinkaya, the patient remained in good condition during clinical follow-up on the first day after surgery.
