Samsun hosts first Lifesaving Sport Sea Turkey Championship
The Lifesaving Sport Sea Turkey Championship has commenced in Samsun, marking the first time this specific event has been organized by the Turkish Underwater Sports Federation (TSSF). Held at Denizevleri Atakum Beach, the competition features approximately 100 athletes competing in seven different categories, including surf race, rescue tube race, run-swim-run, and beach sprint.
The championship serves as a critical selection process for the national team, with four athletes expected to be chosen to represent Turkey internationally. TSSF officials noted that the challenging conditions of the Black Sea were intentionally utilized to prepare athletes for the waves and currents they will encounter in international competitions, specifically the upcoming world championship in South Africa scheduled for December.
The event is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Samsun Governor's Office, Spor Toto, and the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality.
