Samsun housing dispute leaves 80 families without homes

Approximately 80 families in Samsun, Turkey, are facing a housing crisis after failing to receive apartments from a 197-unit residential project. The victims, who include retirees, teachers, healthcare workers, and civil servants, claim they purchased the homes through contracts signed in late 2020 but have been unable to obtain titles or access the properties.

The families allege that the construction halted due to a dispute between the contractor, A.C., and the SS Ondokuz Mayıs Kent Konut Yapı Kooperatifi regarding payment entitlements and sales authorization. Representing the victims, Veysel Gür stated that the families have lost their life savings and expressed that the situation has caused significant psychological distress and instability for their households.
