Samsun housing dispute leaves 80 families without homes
Approximately 80 families in Samsun, Turkey, are facing significant hardship after being unable to take possession of apartments in a 197-unit housing project. The families purchased homes based on a protocol signed between a cooperative and a contractor identified as A. C.
According to Veysel Gür, speaking on behalf of the affected families, the delay is caused by disputes between the landowner and the contractor. The families report that they continue to pay rent while waiting for their homes, which they claim were built using their own funds. Gür has called for a resolution through cooperative management rather than the contractor.
The 19 Mayıs Kent Konut Yapı Kooperatifi has alleged that the contractor failed to fulfill contractual obligations, sold the same apartments to multiple people, and fled abroad after leaving the construction unfinished.
