Samsun implements CAD and CAM training for medical industry

A technical support project aimed at developing Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) competencies is currently being implemented in Samsun, Turkey. Supported by the Middle Black Sea Development Agency (OKA) under its 2025 Social Development and Entrepreneurship Technical Support Program, the initiative seeks to provide the medical industry with qualified human resources.

The training, conducted by the Medical Industry Innovation Cluster Association (MEDİKÜM), involves an intensive 60-hour program held over 15 days at the Ondokuz Mayıs University Yeşilyurt Demir Çelik Vocational School. The curriculum is divided into two main modules: a CAD module focusing on 2D/3D modeling and design optimization using SolidWorks, and a CAM and CNC production module where students transfer models to software, set machining parameters, and produce physical parts on CNC machines.

By integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application, the project aims to strengthen university-industry cooperation and prepare students for the digital transformation requirements of the medical manufacturing sector.
