Samsun improves regional transit with new interchange and airport shuttle

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality has implemented significant transportation improvements in the city, focusing on both road infrastructure and airport connectivity.

The completion of the Kenan Şara Interchange project has successfully eased traffic congestion. New connection roads and bridges were constructed to restore highway access previously interrupted by tram lines in the Baruthane, Çatalarmut, and Karasamsun neighborhoods. Initial data indicates a 26% reduction in traffic load on the Atatürk Boulevard DLH and Karayolları junctions. Additionally, the project included geometric adjustments to improve driver maneuverability and the application of 42,000 square meters of asphalt and concrete.

In parallel, the SAMAIR bus service, launched in 2024, has become a vital link to Samsun Çarşamba Airport. The service provides scheduled transport from central districts and surrounding areas including Bafra, Alaçam, Yakakent, Terme, and Çarşamba. Since its inception, SAMAIR has served 434,050 passengers, aiming to provide predictable and safe public transit integrated with flight schedules.
