Samsun Lifelong Learning University offers education for seniors

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality and Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) have launched the Lifelong Learning University, a program specifically designed for citizens aged 55 to 75. The initiative aims to promote active aging and support the physical, cognitive, and social development of older adults.

Classes are held twice a week and cover a variety of subjects, including healthy aging, digital competencies, financial management for retirement, travel English, and various artistic skills. The curriculum is structured into two levels: a basic program for new enrollees and an advanced program for those who successfully complete the initial stage.

In addition to theoretical lessons, the program includes seminars, practical workshops, and excursions. A key feature of the initiative is fostering intergenerational communication by bringing university students and senior participants together in the same learning environment to encourage experience sharing and social solidarity.
