strawberry production agricultural support Samsun Alaçam rural development

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality is expanding strawberry production in the Alaçam district through a targeted agricultural support program. For the 2025 and 2026 periods, the municipality is assisting 56 producers across a total of 70 decares of land.

The support package includes essential farming inputs such as strawberry seedlings, mulch film, drip irrigation systems, fertilizer, and water tanks. These resources aim to reduce costs for small-scale farmers and encourage the expansion of cultivation areas.

Local producers have reported significant benefits from the initiative. Ramazan Büyüktanrıverdi, who returned to his hometown after 25 years in the textile industry in Bursa, is currently producing on 2 decares. Another producer, İlhan Güngör, expanded his production from 1 to 4 decares with municipal aid, noting that yields reach between 2 and 3 tons per decare.

Mayor Halit Doğan stated that the program is designed to utilize the region's fertile soil to strengthen rural development and convert farmers' labor into increased income.
