Turkish municipalities roll out extensive agricultural support programmes

Municipalities across Turkey have launched a series of agricultural aid initiatives aimed at boosting farm productivity and reducing costs for producers.

In Manisa, the metropolitan municipality introduced a new grant scheme offering barley and wheat seed, animal‑feed crops, and organic fertiliser to eligible crop growers and livestock owners. Applications opened in June and run until 30 June 2026, with eligibility based on land size and livestock numbers.

Samsun’s metropolitan government expanded its "Producing City" programme, reaching more than 14 000 farmers and covering 277 000 decares. Support includes seed and seedling distribution, equipment, modern irrigation, new processing facilities, and plans for laboratories and additional village bakeries in 2026.

Mersin’s city council continued its local‑seed preservation project, supplying 600 kg of heritage chickpea seed to ten growers in the Gülnar district for cultivation on 50 decares. Since 2020 the initiative has assisted 91 producers and contributed to 455 decares of production.

In Tavas, the district municipality introduced drone‑based fertilisation and soil‑analysis services, providing precise nutrient application and rapid testing to improve yields while lowering input costs.
