Samsun Municipality proposes 1.3 million square meter National Garden
The Samsun Metropolitan Municipality is evaluating a zoning plan to transform 1.348 million square meters of coastal land into the Doğupark Area National Garden (Millet Bahçesi). The project spans a 6.5-kilometer stretch between the Canik Fishing Harbor and İlkadım Youth Park, with approximately 903,000 square meters designated specifically for the National Garden.
The plan involves 62 different parcels of land owned by various entities, including the Treasury, the municipality, TCDD, and private individuals. The area currently hosts several facilities, including the Nuri Asan Facilities used by the Samsunspor football club, 17 wedding halls, various entertainment centers, and the Yabancılar Çarşısı market, which supports about 300 tradespeople.
During the municipal council meeting, the proposal regarding the future of the Nuri Asan Facilities was referred to a commission for further discussion. Representatives from Samsunspor attended the session to advocate for the continued use and development of the facilities. Some council members expressed opposition to relocating the club's facilities, calling for a decision that aligns with the interests of the club management and its supporters.
