Samsun municipality removes illegal beach furniture in Atakum

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality’s Zabıta (municipal police) carried out inspections on the Atakum and 19 Mayıs coastal strips, removing tables, chairs and sun‑beds that had been illegally placed on the public beach. The operation was supported by police, rapid‑response units, municipal staff and media crews. The seized items were loaded onto trucks for secure storage.

The municipal council had adopted a decision on 9 July 2026 to end the beach occupations, notifying businesses on 13 July. Despite the deadline expiring on 16 July, the illegal placements persisted, prompting the enforcement action. Officials stressed that the shoreline is a shared public area and announced that similar inspections will continue along the coast.
