Samsun security guard rescues child from tram tracks

A security guard at the Samsun Cumhuriyet Meydanı Station in Turkey rescued a 5-year-old girl who ran toward approaching tram tracks. The incident occurred at a level pedestrian crossing while the child was with her family.

Muhammet Lafçi, a SAMULAŞ security officer on duty, noticed the child moving toward the tram line and intervened within seconds to pull her to safety. The rescue was captured by station security cameras. Lafçi stated that he acted on instinct, noting, “I put that child in place of my own child,” and mentioned that he felt as if his own daughter were the one in danger.

Following the event, Lafçi urged the public to exercise caution at level crossings, specifically advising against using headphones and reminding pedestrians to look in both directions before crossing.
