Samsun tourism rises 13.7% as German visitors become top foreign source
Tourist arrivals in the Turkish Black Sea city of Samsun grew by 13.68% in the January‑May 2026 period, reaching 236,352 visitors, according to the Turkey Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA). Of these, 224,807 were domestic tourists and 11,545 were foreign, with German travelers accounting for 11.05% of the foreign share and overtaking Georgian visitors, who led the previous year.
Samsun’s accommodation sector now comprises 127 facilities offering 4,046 rooms and 8,124 beds. The hotel stock includes three five‑star, nine four‑star, twenty three‑star, five two‑star and four one‑star establishments, plus 86 other‑category venues. The data highlight both a rise in overall visitor numbers and a notable shift in the composition of foreign tourists.
The increase reflects broader growth in regional tourism and may boost the local economy, given the city’s capacity to host a larger influx of guests.
