Samsun tourism strategy discussed at Ondokuz Mayıs University

Samsun Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism, Süleyman Demirtaş, met with students and academics at a conference titled “The Present and Future of Samsun Tourism.” The event was organized by the Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Faculty of Tourism and the Bafra Tourism Vocational School.

Discussions focused on the 2024–2028 Samsun Tourism Master Plan, which aims to increase visitor numbers and tourism revenue while extending average lengths of stay. Strategic priorities include spreading tourism activities across all districts and throughout the year, developing sustainable tourism, and strengthening digital promotion efforts.

The conference also highlighted the role of the Tourism Action Plan in converting these goals into concrete projects. Participants emphasized the importance of coordination between public institutions, local governments, universities, and industry representatives to enhance regional development, employment, and destination branding through culture, nature, gastronomy, health, and alternative tourism.
