Samsung 990 1TB SSD sees price discounts on Amazon

Samsung is offering discounts on its new 990 1TB NVMe M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD. The drive is positioned as a more affordable alternative to the Pro and EVO series, achieved by omitting a DRAM cache.

In the United States, the 1TB model is available on Amazon for $199.99, a $30 discount from its $229.99 list price. This represents a record low price for the model. The 2TB version is also discounted, priced at $339 down from $529.

In France, the 1TB model is on sale for €159.99 on Amazon, reduced from a suggested retail price of €209.99.

Technical specifications for the Samsung 990 include sequential read speeds of up to 7,150 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 6,450 MB/s. While the lack of DRAM may result in lower performance during extremely intensive tasks compared to the 980 Pro or 990 Pro, it is noted as suitable for gaming, office work, and light creative projects. The drive is also reported to use up to 38% less power per unit of performance than the 990 PRO.
