Samsung advances AI chip production, partnering with Anthropic on 2nm processors and supporting Google's TPU I/O design

Samsung Electronics is expanding its AI semiconductor business. The company will fabricate Anthropic's custom AI processors on its cutting‑edge 2‑nanometer gate‑all‑around (GAA) process, aiming for higher transistor density, lower power consumption and faster inference for large language models.

In a separate development, Samsung is taking responsibility for the input/output (I/O) die back‑end design of Google's next‑generation Tensor Processing Unit (TPU). While the TPU compute tile will be produced by TSMC at 1.4 nm, Samsung will handle the I/O portion, potentially outsourcing the design work to Korean firms such as ADTechnology, Gaonchips and Alphachips. Both moves illustrate Samsung's growing role as a key supplier for AI‑focused silicon across multiple leading AI companies.
