Samsung and Google roll out major health feature updates for Galaxy and Pixel smartwatches
Samsung is releasing a Samsung Health update on June 8 that turns the Galaxy Watch into a proactive health partner. The new software examines five nightly bio‑signals – heart rate, heart‑rate variability, respiration rate, skin temperature and blood‑oxygen level – and provides a simple morning alert indicating whether extra rest is needed. It also consolidates cardiovascular data into a single daily heart‑health score, adds a daily cardiovascular load metric, and introduces fitness, antioxidant and age indices. A hearing‑health monitor alerts users to harmful ambient noise, and the interface is reorganised around five pillars: sleep, activity, nutrition, mindfulness and vital signs.
Google has fixed recent problems on the Pixel Watch that halted the Find My Phone shortcut and the ECG app after a March update. The issues were resolved in late May; Find My Phone now works from the quick‑settings panel, and the ECG app has been refreshed with a new icon and branding that drops the Fitbit name, reflecting its integration into Google Health.
