Samsung and Microsoft develop new mobile-to-desktop integration features

Major technology firms are developing new features to deepen the integration between mobile devices and desktop operating systems.

Samsung is reportedly testing an ‘App Mirroring’ feature within an internal version of One UI 9.5. This tool would allow users to access Galaxy smartphone applications and notifications directly from a computer via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi using a Samsung account. The feature aims to provide an experience similar to Apple’s iPhone Mirroring, potentially offering integration with Galaxy Books and Windows computers.

Separately, Microsoft is testing a native remote control feature for Windows 11. Through the Phone Link app, users will be able to remotely shut down, restart, or suspend their PCs using Android or iOS devices. This functionality relies on secure cloud synchronization via Microsoft accounts, allowing users to manage their computers from any location without needing to be on the same local Wi-Fi network or using third-party remote access software.
