Samsung and Motorola introduce privacy features for device security

Samsung has implemented a Maintenance Mode within its One UI interface, designed to protect user privacy during technical repairs. This feature creates a temporary user profile that hides personal data, including Google and Samsung accounts, contacts, call history, and downloaded applications. While in this mode, technicians can only access factory-installed apps to perform hardware diagnostics, such as testing Wi-Fi or touchscreens, without accessing private photos or messages.

Motorola devices offer a screen pinning feature to prevent unauthorized access to other applications when lending a phone to others. This tool allows a user to lock the device to a single app, ensuring the person holding the phone cannot navigate to private data or accidentally delete content. On newer models running Android 13, such as the Moto G Play, this functionality is integrated into the system settings, providing a way to restrict interaction to a specific task.
