Samsung and O2 Connect launch new mobile technologies

Samsung Electronics announced the UFS 5.0 storage chip, claiming read speeds of up to 10.8 Gb/s and write speeds of 9.5 Gb/s—more than double the performance of UFS 4.1. The new chip is 16.7 % smaller, 40 % more energy‑efficient and will be produced in mass from the fourth quarter of 2024, available in capacities up to 1 TB for smartphones, tablets and other devices.

In Slovakia, O2 introduced the O2 Connect service, a shared‑data offering that lets customers extend a primary mobile plan to up to three secondary SIM or eSIM devices. The service enables remote connectivity for gadgets such as GPS trackers for pets, outdoor cameras, and 4G routers, allowing users to monitor and control devices in cabins, gardens or vehicles without separate contracts.
