Samsung and vivo advance foldable smartphone camera technology
Samsung and vivo are advancing the capabilities of foldable smartphones, specifically focusing on high-end camera hardware and AI-driven software features.
Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. The Ultra model features a triple-camera system including a 200MP wide-angle lens and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The standard Galaxy Z Fold8 utilizes a dual 50MP camera system. Both devices incorporate AI-powered tools such as ‘My FanCam’ for automatic video reframing and ‘Nightography’ for enhanced low-light photography.
Meanwhile, the vivo X Fold6 has begun its global rollout. The device aims to address common foldable compromises regarding battery life and camera quality. It features a 200MP Zeiss-branded main camera, a 50MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultra-wide lens. The X Fold6 is equipped with a 6900mAh battery and runs on the Mediatek Dimensity 9500 Super chipset.
