Samsung adds Galaxy Watch 9 Classic to expanding smartwatch lineup

Samsung is reportedly preparing a new Galaxy Watch 9 Classic, hinted at by recent Wear OS code and certification filings. The Classic model would sit alongside the Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2, offering a traditional design with features such as a “raise to talk” voice‑assistant activation, an AI‑powered health app that groups metrics into vitals, heart‑health scores, cardio load, fitness index and more. Battery capacity is expected to increase by up to 35 % on the Ultra 2 and 23 % on the 40 mm Watch 9, though charging speed may remain limited to 10 W.

Rumors also suggest the Watch 9 series will debut Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite processor, possibly bringing 5G connectivity, ultra‑wideband support and enhanced on‑device AI. Design and display are expected to mirror the current Watch 8, with similar 40 mm and 44 mm sizes, IP68 rating and MIL‑STD‑810H certification. Analysts note that while the Watch 8 remains the best‑value Samsung smartwatch, the upcoming Watch 9 could improve battery life, health‑tracking capabilities and introduce subscription‑based features.

Overall, Samsung’s smartwatch strategy appears to focus on incremental hardware upgrades, richer health analytics and tighter integration with Google’s Wear OS ecosystem.
