Samsung announces ISOCELL HPC 200 MP sensor with DeepPix technology

Samsung has announced the ISOCELL HPC, a new 200 MP smartphone camera sensor featuring DeepPix technology. This sensor maintains a 1/1.3-inch optical format with 0.6-micron pixels, similar to the dimensions of the ISOCELL HP2, but introduces structural changes to improve light capture.

The DeepPix technology utilizes advanced Front Deep Trench Isolation (FDTI) and high-purity color filters to create physical and optical barriers between pixels. This design aims to reduce optical noise and light interference between adjacent pixels, enhancing color accuracy in high-contrast or low-light environments. Samsung reports that this method increases the full well capacity of each photodiode by 60%, allowing pixels to store more information before saturation.

Key technical capabilities include 16-bit HDR support in a single capture, which provides up to four times more color information than conventional systems, and support for 16-bit RAW files. The sensor also enables single-shot HDR across various digital zoom levels (1.5x to 4x) to ensure consistent exposure. For video, the sensor supports 4K recording at 180 fps for smooth slow-motion effects and Full HD at 360 fps.
