Samsung awards scholarships to International Science Olympiad winners
Samsung Electronics, Samsung Biologics, and Samsung Bioepis have awarded scholarships to 15 South Korean students who achieved medal success at the recent International Science Olympiads in mathematics, physics, and biology.
In the physics and biology competitions, the South Korean national delegations achieved first place overall, with all participating students earning gold medals. In the mathematics competition, the South Korean team placed sixth overall, securing three gold, two silver, and one honorable mention medal.
Samsung executives, including Roh Tae-moon of the DX division and Jun Young-hyun of the DS division, personally presented the awards at various campuses in Suwon, Hwaseong, and Songdo. The company also provides ongoing support for the selection and training of national Olympiad representatives through partnerships with academic organizations.
This initiative is part of Samsung’s broader commitment to nurturing STEM talent and basic sciences. The company also operates the Samsung Young Software Academy (SSAFY), which has trained approximately 11,000 individuals since 2018 to support software and AI development.
