Samsung begins mass production of Exynos 2700 2nm chips
Samsung has reportedly entered the mass production phase for its Exynos 2700 chipset, utilizing a 2nm architecture. This processor is expected to power the upcoming Galaxy S27 series, including the base, Plus, and a new Pro model. Early benchmarks suggest the Exynos 2700 could offer a 12% performance increase and 25% better energy efficiency compared to its predecessor, with some tests indicating it may outperform Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 in multi-core tasks.
Regional distribution strategies appear to remain in place, with Exynos chips likely destined for Europe and South Korea, while the US and China markets receive Snapdragon processors. There is ongoing debate regarding whether the flagship Galaxy S27 Ultra will adopt the Exynos 2700 or stick with Qualcomm. If the Exynos chip is used in the Ultra, reports suggest Samsung may need to implement a larger vapor chamber to manage the thermal output of the 2nm process.
Other leaks regarding the Galaxy S27 series include a potential battery capacity increase to 5,700mAh for the Ultra model and optimized charging speeds. Additionally, Samsung Display is reportedly ramping up production of AMOLED panels for the lineup, with an estimated annual target of 47 to 48 million units. The series may also feature a 'Privacy Display' on the Pro and Ultra models.
