Samsung begins global rollout of One UI 9 based on Android 17
Samsung has initiated the global distribution of its One UI 9 software update, which is built on the Android 17 operating system. The rollout began in South Korea and has expanded into Europe, with availability in the United States and other regions expected shortly.
Flagship and foldable devices, including the Galaxy S23 series and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, are among the first to receive the stable update. For the S23 series, this represents the final major operating system upgrade in its support cycle. The update introduces enhanced customization for the Quick Panel, improved multitasking via DeX, and deeper integration of AI features, though some advanced Galaxy AI tools remain exclusive to higher-end models.
The rollout also extends to the Galaxy A and M series. Mid-range models such as the Galaxy A36, A56, and A57 are receiving the update, alongside the Galaxy M36 and M17. Notably, the update for the Galaxy A56 includes expanded Quick Share capabilities, allowing for improved file sharing with Apple devices. Distribution remains staggered, with availability varying by specific model, region, and carrier.
