Samsung Chairman Lee Jae-yong to Meet Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang in US to deepen AI chip partnership

Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman Lee Jae-yong is scheduled to travel to the United States at the end of July for a meeting with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. The discussion follows a series of engagements between the two leaders, including a dinner in October 2025 and a June 2026 visit, and is expected to focus on next‑generation high‑bandwidth memory (HBM4 and HBM4E), advanced packaging, autonomous‑driving chips and Nvidia’s role in Samsung’s planned AI data‑center ecosystem.

The talks are tied to South Korea’s broader “three super‑plans,” which aim to invest roughly 800 trillion won in a new semiconductor park in Gwangju and more than 1,000 trillion won in domestic AI data‑center infrastructure, with Nvidia technology positioned as a key component. Market reaction has been strong, with Samsung shares jumping about 10 % after earlier reports of the collaboration.

The meeting underscores the strategic importance of diversifying AI chip supply, potentially reducing reliance on a single supplier and influencing pricing for downstream users such as cloud providers and crypto miners.
