Samsung considers Exynos 2700 for Galaxy S27 Ultra due to overheating concerns

Samsung is reportedly evaluating whether to use its in-house Exynos 2700 chip for the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra instead of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Internal testing allegedly revealed that the Snapdragon processor experiences significant overheating during sustained high-load tasks, leading to thermal throttling to prevent hardware damage.

Samsung has reportedly communicated these thermal and stability concerns to Qualcomm, providing a deadline of mid-October for the chipmaker to meet required standards. If Qualcomm fails to resolve these issues, Samsung may pivot to its own Exynos silicon.

Qualcomm’s Chief Marketing Officer has denied the reports on social media, stating that recent media claims regarding overheating issues are inaccurate. Qualcomm emphasized that device manufacturers independently tune SoCs to balance performance and power consumption, suggesting that internal test results may not reflect the final product's behavior.
