Samsung C&T achieves first domestic certification for seismic PC connection technology
Samsung C&T has developed a dry connection method for precast concrete (PC) that achieves high-level seismic performance, earning the first technical certification of its kind in South Korea from the Korea Concrete Institute.
The technology, officially titled ‘PC special moment beam-column dry connection method using a box-type connecting device with rebar mechanical splicing and bracket functions,’ allows for the efficient connection of beams and columns in a PC Rahmen structure. By utilizing steel brackets and bolt fastening, the method overcomes previous limitations in seismic resistance typically associated with dry-joined PC structures.
This advancement is a key component for Samsung C&T’s ‘Next Home’ residential model, which aims to eliminate internal columns to allow for flexible interior layouts. The technology is expected to improve structural safety for high-rise buildings, enhance construction quality, and reduce project timelines through Off-Site Construction (OSC) methods.
