Samsung delays One UI 9.0 rollout as focus shifts to upcoming foldable launches

Samsung is postponing the fourth beta of its One UI 9.0 software as the company reallocates developer resources to prepare for next week’s Unpacked event, which will showcase the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 foldable smartphones. The shift means the current One UI 9.0 beta program will stall, extending the gap before the next public update.

Internally, Samsung executives are also debating a major overhaul of the UI, considering a clean‑AOSP codebase to reduce bloat and improve performance. Recent leaks hint at new AI‑driven features such as “My FanCam,” a tool that tracks subjects after recording, a “Gemini Intelligence” suite requiring high‑end hardware, and enhanced security modes like Secure Locking. The potential rewrite carries risk but could deliver a slimmer, faster experience for millions of Samsung users.
