Samsung CEO TM Roh charts personal AI strategy for upcoming Galaxy Unpacked

Samsung Electronics President and CEO TM Roh says the next breakthrough in artificial intelligence will come from personal, device‑centred AI rather than raw computing power. "AI does not need to outthink you, it needs to understand you," he wrote, arguing that AI must know a user’s habits, health data and context before it can act on their behalf.

Roh stresses that Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem – phones, tablets, smartwatches, TVs and connected appliances – provides the entry points for such understanding. The firm will showcase its vision at the Galaxy Unpacked event on 22 July in London, unveiling the Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 with thinner, lighter foldable designs, a new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, and the One UI 9 interface built on Android 17.

Security and trust are presented as essential. Samsung Knox will keep the most personal data on‑device, and openness through SmartThings is promoted to accelerate AI‑driven experiences. Partnerships with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon and Google’s Android are highlighted as key to delivering the promised AI features across the refreshed foldable lineup.
