Samsung develops new over-ear headphones and gains FDA clearance for Galaxy Buds hearing aid feature

Samsung is expanding its audio portfolio through two major developments. First, the company has received FDA clearance in the United States to introduce hearing aid functionality via software on its Galaxy Buds3 Pro and Galaxy Buds4 Pro models. This feature includes a five-minute ‘Hearing Test’ to create a personalized auditory profile, allowing the devices to selectively amplify specific frequencies, such as whispers or distant voices, using noise reduction and beamforming technologies.

Separately, Samsung is reportedly developing premium over-ear headphones, currently known by the code name ‘Galaxy H1’. Expected to launch around 2027, these headphones aim to compete with Apple’s AirPods Max and Sony’s WH-1000XM series. Leaked specifications suggest the device will feature Bluetooth 6.0 support, active noise cancellation (ANC), transparency mode, and AI-powered assistant integration. The headphones are expected to offer automatic switching between Galaxy devices and may be available in black, white, and grey.
