Samsung devices excluded from Android 17 and One UI 9 upgrade

Samsung is expected to skip a large list of its smartphones and tablets from receiving the Android 17 operating system and the accompanying One UI 9 interface. Android 17 was launched on 16 June 2026 and will first appear on the new Galaxy Z foldable series before being rolled out to other models. According to a Gizmochina analysis, devices such as the Galaxy S22, S22 +, S22 Ultra, S21 FE, Z Fold 4, Z Flip 3, as well as multiple A‑series and M‑series models will not be updated. The same applies to the Galaxy Tab S8, Tab S8 +, and Tab S8 Ultra tablets. Older Samsung phones released before these models are also unlikely to receive Android 17. The lack of support means users of the listed devices will remain on Android 16 and One UI 8, missing out on new features and security improvements.
