Samsung Display launches 1600‑nit tandem OLED panels for premium laptops

Samsung Display has begun mass shipments of a new tandem‑OLED panel for notebooks that reaches up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness. The panels satisfy VESA’s latest DisplayHDR True Black 1400 standard, which requires at least 1,400 nits over a 10 % window while keeping black levels at 0.0005 nits.

The first laptop to use the technology is Lenovo’s Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition (16‑inch, 3.2K, 120 Hz). Samsung says the dual‑layer OLED design also doubles the panel’s lifespan compared with single‑stack OLEDs. ASUS, Dell Technologies and MSI have confirmed they will launch their own models with the panels later in 2026 and into 2027.

Samsung will showcase the tandem‑OLED display at the K‑Display 2026 exhibition in Seoul from 22 to 24 July.
