Samsung Display to launch 24.5-inch QD-OLED panels for gaming
Samsung Display has announced the mass production of its first 24.5-inch Full HD QD-OLED panels, scheduled to begin before the end of this year. This move targets the competitive gaming and eSports markets, where the 24 to 25-inch format is a standard due to its ability to keep the entire field of view within a player's sight.
Several global PC manufacturers have already planned product launches featuring these new displays. While specific details regarding refresh rates and brightness have not been disclosed, the expansion represents a strategic shift for OLED technology, which has traditionally been concentrated in larger, premium monitor segments.
This development follows similar moves by competitors, such as LG Display’s unveiling of a 25-inch WOLED panel. Samsung Display currently holds a significant position in the market, having shipped approximately 2.5 million QD-OLED monitor panels last year, representing nearly 75% of the overall self-emissive monitor panel market.
