Samsung Display unveils 300 Hz OLED panel for gaming laptops

Samsung Display has unveiled a new 16-inch OLED panel capable of a 300 Hz refresh rate, marking a significant increase from the previous 240 Hz limit for OLED laptop displays. The announcement was made during the International Meeting on Information Display (IMID) 2026 in Busan.

The new panel features a 2.5K resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio, specifically targeting the high-end gaming laptop market. While the technology aims to provide smoother motion for competitive gaming and reduce the gap between OLED and high-refresh LCD panels, Samsung has not yet disclosed specific details regarding peak brightness, HDR capabilities, or exact pixel counts.

In addition to the laptop panel, Samsung showcased high-frequency QD-OLED monitor solutions, including a 31.5-inch 4K monitor with a 360 Hz refresh rate and a 34-inch 21:9 QHD model also featuring 360 Hz. No specific production dates or partner laptop manufacturers have been announced.
