Samsung cancels BOE OLED supply for Galaxy S27, sticks with its own panels

Samsung Electronics has decided not to use BOE's AMOLED panels in the base model of its upcoming Galaxy S27 flagship smartphone. Earlier talks had explored a partnership that could have saved roughly $5 per panel and hundreds of millions of dollars in total, but the agreement fell through. The Korean maker chose to rely exclusively on OLED panels produced by its own Samsung Display unit, citing concerns that using a third‑party supplier could damage the Samsung Display brand and noting BOE's past quality issues that have also led Apple to exclude the Chinese firm from its high‑end iPhone supply chain.

The decision means BOE loses another opportunity to enter the high‑end smartphone segment, after previously missing out on Apple orders for upcoming iPhone models. Samsung will continue to source OLED panels internally, maintaining tighter control over component quality and cost structure for its flagship devices.
