Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix dominate Naver finance searches as Korean market shows mixed moves

On the afternoon of May 21, Naver Finance search data showed Samsung Electronics leading the list with a 22.02% share, followed by SK Hynix at 17.76%. Both semiconductor giants posted gains—Samsung up 6.15% and SK Hynix up 4.08%—driving a strong rally in large‑cap tech and electronics stocks. Other majors such as Samsung SDI, NAVER and LG Electronics also rose, while biotech names Samchun Dang Pharma and Kolon TissueTech suffered steep declines of nearly 30% and hit trading limits.

In contrast, the opening session on May 20 saw the same two companies at the top of search rankings (Samsung 24.28%, SK Hynix 23.60%) but their share prices fell, with Samsung down 2.55% and SK Hynix down 2.39%. Broad market pressure affected many large‑cap stocks, including Hyundai Motor, Doosan Enerability, and Samsung SDI, which posted declines of 4%‑6%. A few stocks bucked the trend: Samchun Dang Pharma hit its upper price limit, and Hyundai Hims surged nearly 19%. The data illustrate a split between high investor interest in semiconductor leaders and divergent price movements across the Korean market.
