Samsung Electronics begins recruitment for Texas semiconductor plant

Samsung Electronics has launched its first internship recruitment program for its advanced semiconductor foundry plant in Taylor, Texas. The 11-week internship, aimed at students for the summer of 2027, will involve participants working on practical projects alongside engineers in product, process, and technology sectors.

In addition to the internships, the company is recruiting through the Samsung Emerging Engineer Development (SEED) program, which targets recent engineering graduates. This talent acquisition drive precedes the expected commencement of operations at the Taylor plant's first facility by the end of this year. A second plant is scheduled for construction later this year, with a target operational date of 2030.

The move addresses a critical shortage of skilled technical talent in the U.S. semiconductor manufacturing and equipment sectors. Industry reports suggest the U.S. could face a talent gap of up to 157,000 people in semiconductor manufacturing, design, and advanced packaging by 2030. This recruitment push also places Samsung in direct competition with TSMC, which is also expanding capacity and recruiting technical staff for its facilities in Arizona.
