Samsung Electronics posts record Q2 2026 profit amid AI memory demand
Samsung Electronics announced record earnings for the second quarter of fiscal 2026. Revenue reached 171.5 trillion won, up 130 % year‑on‑year, and operating profit surged to 89.5 trillion won, an increase of about 1,800 %. Net profit was 71.6 trillion won. The results were driven by soaring demand for memory chips used in artificial‑intelligence data‑center infrastructure, with DRAM and NAND prices rising sharply.
The company’s semiconductor division secured multi‑year supply contracts with the five largest global data‑center operators and signed a Broadcom agreement worth more than $200 billion through 2030. Prices for LPDDR4X and LPDDR5X memory modules jumped roughly 90 % quarter‑over‑quarter. By contrast, Samsung’s Mobile (MX) division posted an operating loss of 800 billion won, the first quarterly loss in its history, as the cost of high‑bandwidth memory chips inflated production expenses.
Samsung said it expects semiconductor demand to stay strong through the second half of the year and warned that supply constraints could tighten further in 2027.
