Samsung Electronics launches Galaxy Watch heat‑stress safety system for outdoor workers

Samsung Electronics has upgraded its SmartThings Pro safety platform with a heat‑stress management system that uses data from Galaxy Watch wearables and on‑site temperature and humidity sensors. In collaboration with South Korea’s Ministry of Employment and Labor, the AI‑driven solution predicts workers’ core temperature and issues real‑time alerts when heat‑wave thresholds (33 °C warning, 35 °C alert, 38 °C critical) are reached. Managers receive dashboard notifications and can send rest‑break or heat‑illness warnings directly to the watches.

The system is currently deployed at Samsung’s new semiconductor construction site in Pyeongtaek and was developed with Incheon University and Samsung Seoul Hospital for clinical validation. Samsung says the platform meets ISO‑27001 information‑security standards and will be expanded to protect outdoor laborers during summer heat waves.
