Samsung Electronics partners with Han River Agency to expand Yongin ecological restoration

The Han River Basin Environmental Agency, Samsung Electronics, and the Korea Environmental Conservation Agency signed a joint agreement on May 5 to enlarge a wetland restoration project in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. The initiative adds about 330,000 m² of former rice‑paddy land in Yubang‑dong to the existing 400,000 m² site, bringing the total restored area to roughly 730,000 m².

The project will improve water‑quality functions, increase carbon‑sequestering vegetation, boost biodiversity, reconnect ecological corridors, and create educational and recreation spaces for the public. Samsung Electronics participates through its DS (semiconductor) division as part of its ESG commitments, while the agencies provide planning, technical expertise, and overall management.
