Samsung Electronics projected to exceed 100 trillion won in Q3 operating profit
Samsung Electronics is projected to achieve a historic milestone in its third-quarter results, with operating profit expected to exceed 100 trillion won for the first time. Analysts from DB Securities, Mirae Asset Securities, and BNK Securities estimate an average third-quarter operating profit of 107.7 trillion won, representing a 20.3 percent increase from the second quarter.
The surge is driven by the memory business, specifically through increased market share in High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), rising DRAM and NAND prices, and strong demand for enterprise solid-state drives (eSSD). The company’s Device Solutions division is expected to see operating margins between 72 and 75 percent, while DRAM margins could potentially exceed 80 percent.
Industry experts note that the shift toward HBM production is tightening the supply of conventional DRAM, helping to sustain high prices. While TrendForce expects the pace of DRAM price increases to slow compared to the previous quarter, double-digit growth is still anticipated. Samsung is expected to announce its preliminary third-quarter results in early October.
