Samsung Electronics recruits AI experts to accelerate semiconductor transformation

Samsung Electronics' Device Solutions (DS) division is accelerating its AI transformation (AX) by recruiting key experts in deep learning and data engineering.

The company has appointed Han Bo-hyung, a fellow and authority in deep learning and vision AI, to lead the development of AI models specialized for semiconductor research and development. Han, formerly a professor at Seoul National University, will focus on technologies such as vision AI for wafer image analysis and defect detection during design and manufacturing processes.

Additionally, Samsung has recruited Han Tae-rin, a Vice President and data engineering expert, to oversee the construction of ‘AI Ready Data.’ This initiative aims to refine and structure the massive amounts of data generated during semiconductor production so it can be immediately utilized for AI learning and analysis.

These strategic hires support Samsung’s broader goal of integrating ‘Agentic AI’ and digital twins across the entire semiconductor value chain—from design and engineering to manufacturing—to enhance development efficiency and productivity.
