Samsung Electronics reports record Q3 2026 operating profit

Samsung Electronics has achieved record-breaking financial results for the third quarter of 2026, becoming the first global technology company to report quarterly operating profits exceeding 100 trillion won. Total revenue reached 195.3 trillion won, a 127% increase year-over-year, while operating profit climbed to 107.4 trillion won.

The surge was driven almost entirely by the semiconductor division, known as Device Solutions (DS). This unit generated 106.5 trillion won in operating profit, accounting for approximately 99% of the group’s total. Growth was fueled by intense demand for artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, specifically high-bandwidth memory (HBM4) and server-grade SSDs.

In contrast, the Device eXperience (DX) division, which includes smartphones, TVs, and home appliances, reported an operating loss of 0.8 trillion won due to rising cost pressures. Despite the overall record, Samsung shares fell as investors compared the results to competitor SK Hynix, which had provided more aggressive future guidance and shareholder return plans.
